They usually hang in the shadows so I try to approach them with the idea to move them into some light. This is dangerous as open areas make them gittery and they bolt. i don't walk directly at them while doing this so as not to spook them. It's sneaky but it works.

Yeah! The bucks are in prime condition now as they are Rutting, and competing for females. This was one of the dominant Bucks I found.

Around here I have to watch so closely during the Rut. Damned things jump right out in front of ya on the back road.. they smell a doe..they don't care whats coming..."I'm goin and get me some!" lol

True! and compounded with the fact that it begins to get dark around rush hour, and that's when they move. This puts them in harms way when they cross roads as they don't have depth perception and can't judge distance or speed of a vehicle.
